Responsible Gambling
Teach Me Blackjack is built to help people play better and lose less. We are not a gambling site and we do not take bets. We do, however, write about a gambling game, and that comes with a responsibility to say this clearly: gambling can cause serious harm when it stops being recreational.
If you are worried about your gambling
The National Council on Problem Gambling runs a 24/7 confidential helpline in the United States:
- Call or text: 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537)
- Chat: ncpgambling.org
In the UK, GamCare offers similar services at gamcare.org.uk or 0808-8020-133. Other countries have their own national helplines.
Signs to watch for
- Gambling with money you cannot afford to lose.
- Chasing losses (betting more to try to win back what you lost).
- Hiding gambling activity from family or friends.
- Gambling interfering with work, relationships, or sleep.
- Borrowing money or selling possessions to gamble.
If any of these feel familiar, the helplines above are free and anonymous.
How we try to be responsible
- The trainer uses no real money and cannot be used to gamble.
- We do not accept advertising from real-money online casinos.
- We publish the math honestly — including that even perfect play loses a small amount on average.
- We consistently recommend against propositions with bad odds (6:5 blackjack, insurance, most side bets).
Nothing on this site is financial, medical, or gambling-addiction advice. If you are in crisis, call the helpline.
